Archive – Not In My Name
Eighteen minutes, five singers, one refusal. “Not In My Name” puts all five of Archive’s vocalists on the same track for the first time, brings Holly Martin back after she sat out Glass Minds, and arrives as the first release with rapper Jimmy Collins as a permanent member. Darius Keeler wrote it about colonialism and his own country’s arms sales, and the lyric follows that line from old empires to today’s wars before the title settles into a flat refusal to be counted in.
Archive produced it with Jerome Devoise, recorded at Metway Studios in Brighton and mixed at Studio DES in Paris. It’s the centrepiece of their 14th album, also called Not In My Name, out March 19, 2027 on Dangervisit/[PIAS].
A protest hymn for a new generation, aimed at everything that’s broken right now, and it earns every one of its eighteen minutes.
